San Felipe, shortly before Travis
left to raise his calvary legion and go to San Antonio.

For half a century after Bowie's death, no likeness of him was known
to the public. In 1899, his brother Rezin's grandson John Moore
revealed a potrait claiming that it was James, painted from life by
an artist referred to as "West". Presumably William West.

This potrait attributed to Boston artist Chester Harding, shows
Crockett in 1834.
