We all know what chat servers are for the most part. The more common ones that people know about however are the Yahoo chat rooms, Talk City and MSN chat rooms. Anyone who has ever been unfortunate enough to try chat for the first time and ended up at Yahoo or some of the others probably vowed to never do it again. That is where private chat servers come into the picture and Serenity-IRC is one of them.
Private servers differ from the public ones due to the fact that on a private chat server it is run and maintained by individuals who care about what environment you chat in and do everything possible to make sure your time there is safe and secure. I am not saying ALL private servers are run that way but a majority are. Serenity-IRC is one such server, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for one.
Email groups such as those who do graphics and web design are more and more going to chat servers as it can provide a safe and secure surrounding for those wishing to talk in real time in a group to each other and discuss projects, ideas and other issues. Emails and postings take time and work well for some things but when you can have an unlimited number of people meet in one place and have a discussion it can have great benefits. Not only is it fast and effecient but its also a great medium for getting to know others well whom you might not have had the opportunity to do so otherwise.
What does Serenity-IRC Offer?
On Serenity they provide a full service and well educated staff to help you acquire a chat room that is safe, secure and non-threatening. You can register nicknames, channels, have access to memo services and the important part, is that it is free. There are no sign-ups, restrictions, or fees at Serenity. The only thing users are required to do is to follow their AUP (Acceptable Use Policy). This policy is very fair to everyone and basically states that the server is a safe chat environment and Illegal trade, pornography, harrassment or anything not of a "G-rating" enviroment will not be tolerated in the public domain.
How do I get there?
If you have read this far I am happy you are still here. :) To get to Serenity-IRC is very simply, even for those who have not chatted before. The link below will take you to their home page and from there you can enter the chat server by using their JavaChat software that they provide. If you are an experienced chatter already and have your own chat program such as Mirc or Pirch then their homepage has the list of servers you can connect to.

Once you are there you will see a connect button in the left hand side menu and also one at the top of the page. Either of these will take you to the JavaChat and will also explain what to do so that you can find help once on the server.
